1. How did you hook up with King of Clubs?
I answered an ad on Milwaukee Rocks, Talked to Paul about the songs they
we doing which at the time included Wild Thing by Tone Loc, I was like are
you serious, he said yes. I went to the audition anyway and luckily have
never had to play Wild Thing.
2. What do you like about being in this band?
It’s all about attitude, and we have it in a good way. We all respect
each other and can joke with each other and most times have each other’s
backs, and that goes a long way in the longevity of this band.
3. What do you do when King of clubs is not rockin'?
Mostly I am on the road for work; I work in field service so I travel a
lot. When not on the road or practicing, I play the online role playing game
Everquest.
4. Who are your influences/ favorite musicians?
Randy Rhoads, Zakk Wylde are my largest influences, as far as bassists
there are a few I really like to listen to even though we don’t play them.
5. What are some of the bands you dig?
I like Atreyu, Jellyfish, Matchbox 20, Pearl Jam, Alice in Chains,
Maroon 5, Ozzy Osbourne, Black Label Society.
6. How did you get started in music?
In high school I sang in a band and got high a lot, which is why I am
sure they thought I could sing, must had been because we were totally tone
deaf when High! I would learn songs from our guitar player and he wanted me
to learn them on the bass, but it wasn’t flashy enough, so I continued to
chug along on the guitar. I played Guitar in only one band called “One More
Time” when I was stationed on Staten Island in New York, I was never more
than just a straight up rhythm player. After all that my cousin talked me
into playing the bass so we could jam together. I went over to his house one
time and we just goofed around and we tried to play some Metallica song, and
without ever learning it I was able to keep up with him, and he was like you
know you’re pretty good at that, you should practice more. Within a month I
was in King of Clubs, and the rest is history.
7. What was the coolest show or venue you’ve ever played?
The coolest show was our first “real” show at Calhoun Station in New
Berlin. We were so ready to get up on stage and let everyone hear what we
had been talking about for almost a year, and were finally able to let
people hear us live, the response was overwhelming!
The coolest venue was See Who’s Inn I think where Tasis was on the bar
singing and the place was going crazy, that was a fun night and another time
we played there right before my birthday and people were feeding me shots
while I was actually playing in the middle of the sets, that was a blast!
On a side note: I cannot wait to get on the stage with Paul our new
singer, we struck GOLD with this Stevie Wonder wanna-be. I say Stevie Wonder
because I think he thinks he is a fashion statement with that Charlie Brown
Shirt, ROFL! He is a riot at practice and a great guy to talk with. I can
see us having a great time on stage for a long time!
